The Constitutional Centre of Western Australia was established to encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to learn more about how our political system works and how to participate in it more fully.
The Centre is the only complex of its kind in Australia and provides information, a programme of exhibitions, seminars and events. It gives Western Australians the opportunity to learn about our federal system of State and Commonwealth government and to explore current issues.
The Centre is housed in the beautifully restored heritage building that was once the old Hale School. It is set in spacious grounds, close to Parliament House, on the corner of Havelock Street and Parliament Place, in West Perth. It has exhibition and seminar facilities, a theatrette, and a parliamentary-style debating chamber.
The Centre has authorised visitor parking access only via intercom and boom gate. Please contact the Centre, prior to your visit, to ensure parking is available. Map available on request. There is also metered parking on Havelock Street and Parliament Place. .
On week days the Red CAT bus (Stop 20 - Havelock Street) stops across the road from the Centre on the corner of Ord and Havelock Streets.
The Centre has permanent displays on the Constitution, aspects of citizenship and history relating to governance. Visitors are welcome to view these during opening hours but a booking is essential. Groups may arrange for guided programmes with our education staff. There are also special programmes to meet the needs of primary and secondary school groups.
The Centre is open from 8.30am to 4.30pm on weekdays and is closed weekends and public holidays, with the exception of advertised special events.
The Electoral Education Centre also operates programmes from the Centre.
If you would like to make a booking or have an inquiry, please contact the Centre.

Parliamentary Education Office
Parliament House is located within walking distance of the Centre. Why not consider a visit to both the Centre and Parliament to cover a few fun-filled hours in what would otherwise take weeks of class work?
